Online Risk Management Modules

We realise that time is of the essence for doctors, so to assist with your professional development we offer online modules - that you can complete anytime, anywhere!

Each module is a quick and easy way of earning PD points - and for PSS members, it fulfills Medicare Australia's PSS risk management requirement!

If you have already completed Module 1, please proceed to Module 2 or Module 3.

 

Module 1: MIPS Overview of Key Risk Management Principles - Revised 2010

This general module provides you with practical strategies to minimise your risk of being sued. The principles apply to each context of care within which a MIPS member may work.

Module 2: MIPS Overview of Health Records

This module provides valuable advice to all members on the importance of maintaining proper medical records for patients.  Medico-legal, Medical Board and Medicare requirements are covered. It will take around one hour to complete.

Module 3: Open Disclosure

This module explains in detail the philosophy, history, benefits to both patients and clinicians, and how you can appropriately engage in the open disclosure process with patients following an adverse clinical outcome. The principles exposed in open disclosure apply to all health care professionals.
